Exploring our Watersheds & Discovering Connections
Join us and experience a special place and discover its unique treasures. This is a place where few people go, wildlife abounds, trees tower in mountains and valleys and water moves through natural landscapes to our water supply system.

Hop on our ‘water’ bus, see the dam, learn how water gets from reservoir to tap and explore what makes watershed ecosystems important through fun, student-centred activities.

You’ll make connections between healthy ecosystems and a healthy water supply. Once you’ve experienced the magic, you will be reminded of your special day, every time you turn on the tap!

Why we’re so proud to share this program and place.
We believe that what students learn through this program will impact their lives, and the lives of others, today and for years to come. We think it’s important that students in the region know where their water comes from, understand the value of this resource, recognize their connection to it, develop a sense of pride and confidence in protected watersheds, and become champions for sustainability in our region.

NEW PROGRAM
We’ve removed the guesswork out of planning your visit.
You’ll appreciate the hands-on activities and materials assembled for you in the Watershed Discovery kit. It will make planning and preparing your visit fun and easy.

You’ll find small group learning.
The magic of this outdoor 4-hour program is created for a maximum of 30 students.

Primary and Secondary Programs
In 2011, programs are available for Grades 4 and 5 only. To support meaningful and connected learning, grade-specific resources have been developed. We anticipate new program offerings will be created to accommodate a wider range of ages in the future. In the meantime, ask us how you can take your students on a free self-guided field trip in the LSCR.

Safety and Liability
A reputable and recognized bus company and professional drive provide transportation services. Two trained educators lead programs. Each is certified with Emergency First Aid and has passed a criminal background check. Educators are also trained to carry and use portable radios and First Aid kits. Other Metro Vancouver staff actively support programs for additional security and safety for everyone.

  • Did you know that we each use about 325L of water per person, per day just at home?
