Metro Vancouver’s Regulation & Enforcement Division delivers fair, efficient and effective regulatory services to support the region’s commitment to protect public health and the environment.
The three management plans that guide the division are the Integrated Liquid Waste and Resource Management Plan, the Air Quality Management Plan and the Integrated Solid Waste and Resource Management Plan.
The Regulation & Enforcement Division develops and implements bylaws, regulations and codes of practice related to discharges to the sanitary sewer from industrial, commercial and institutional sources, air emissions and management of privately owned solid waste facilities.
The division issues permits and licences, sets standards and promotes compliance. The division’s inspection, investigation and enforcement activities are integral to achieving the objectives of the management plans and Metro Vancouver’s public health and environmental goals.
