Richmond City Centre 

Conveniently located across the Fraser River from Vancouver and near the Vancouver International Airport, Richmond Centre’s convenient location is complimented by a range of services, shops, and recreation facilities. It has grown into one of the most populous and ethnically diverse town centres in the region.

The centre is home to an excellent public library, art gallery, and numerous parks and recreation facilities. It is also connected to Vancouver and the nearby international airport by the 98B-line rapid bus. With an ethnically diverse population, Richmond Centre also offers residents, visitors and employers alike with specialty shops and services not found in other regional town centres.

Richmond Centre's housing stock was once primarily composed of single family residences and older, low rise apartment blocks. In recent years, City Council has accommodated demand for “centre living”.

Compared to other town centres, Richmond Centre has a high level of home ownership (59%).

Richmond Centre has a stable professional and government job base, and contains a major hospital, the City Hall, and civic offices. The hospital is supported by a range of clinics and outpatient facilities. Richmond Centre As the city's commercial and retail core, Richmond Centre supports a large number of clerical and service industry jobs. Almost 12,000 new jobs were created between 1991 and 2000.
Population
A wide range of housing type and tenures, good schools, parks and other amenities attracts families, younger, first-time homebuyers and older residents to Richmond.
Transportation
Richmond Centre is conveniently located across the Fraser River from Vancouver, near the Vancouver International Airport, and close to Highway 99 and Westminster Highway. The 98B-line rapid bus service connects Richmond Centre to Downtown Vancouver, the airport, and the SkyTrain system. Other buses provide connections to southern and eastern municipalities.
Community facilities
With the designation of Richmond Centre as a regional town centre, city officials have worked hard to ensure that the area is well served by community facilities. Richmond Centre is anchored by a central cluster of civic facilities, including a new civic building, library and art gallery. There is also a hospital, large park and several private and public recreation and leisure facilities.
Commercial-retail/offices
Recent multi-use developments expanded the amount of office space available in Richmond Town Centre, while retail and commercial floor space continues to grow. Continuing office development in the centre will allow businesses to take advantage of the many amenities this central location offers.
