Metro Vancouver is responsible under Provincial legislation for emergency planning and response in Electoral Area A. Response services provided are:
- Emergency Social Services
- Disaster Financial Assistance
- Wildland Fire Suppression (under agreement with BC Forest Service)
- Incident Command
Each municipality within Metro Vancouver is responsible for their own Emergency Management and Response, contact them directly for information.
The University of BC is responsible for managing emergencies on campus lands in conjunction with Metro Vancouver.

We have conducted a Hazard Analysis and developed an Emergency Plan that covers all portions of Electoral Area A, it defines our response to specific emergencies and provides a framework for overall response. The Emergency Plan for Electoral Area A was adopted by the Board in May 2007 and affirms our continued commitment to the health and safety of all residents of the region.
