MVHC Tenant Association Conference
Tenant Assocation Conference

Our conference is open to any MVHC housing site where residents have formed a Tenant Association. Come and meet other like-minded community spirited folks who live in MVHC buildings and volunteer their time.

At MVHC we know there are many things that would make housing sites more attractive and functional for residents. And we do what needs to be done, and what we are able to do on a limited budget and a priority basis. As we are a not for profit housing provider we often have to make difficult decisions. This is an opportunity to include you, the residents, in collaborative decision making – we found the money – you decide how it will be spent.

Award one $30,000 Capital Project.

All Tenant Associations are invited to pick a $30,000 capital improvement not on the foreseeable MVHC budget horizon and make a presentation at the conference. The residents in each housing community pick a project that would enhance the housing site and be of benefit to all. Here’s your chance to work on planning, budgeting, costing out and public speaking.

Each site will make a five-seven minute presentation at the conference. Presentations can include pictures, power point, (even song or dance to illustrate) - whatever your Association deems to be the best vehicle to convince your peers that your site needs this capital improvement more than all the others. Delegates (three per housing complex) will vote on the site with the most compelling presentation. There will be one vote per housing site, therefore the Delegates will have to concur and agree on the site that will get their one vote.

The one stipulation is that Delegates cannot vote for their home site (otherwise we might have a tie vote with everyone voting for their own capital project submission).

Examples of capital projects Tenant Associations are considering:

  • Bike Enclosure
  • Automatic Doors
  • Playground Equipment
  • Fencing
