Other Services
Compensation Division
• Uses a whole job classification process in response to requests for job reviews initiated by employees, unions or management. In performing these reviews, the job analyst interviews the incumbent, the direct supervisor, and the first level of exempt management to determine the skills and knowledge required to perform the job. This information is then analyzed to prepare class specifications and recommend a compensation level to the employer.
• Represents the employer, or acts as a resource to legal counsel, in related disputes and arbitrations with union locals.

Research Division
• Provides topical research on labour relations matters for the department’s collective bargaining division and for member municipalities.
• Maintains reports and comparisons of pay and benefits that allow for continuous evaluation within the Metro Vancouver and for comparison with other sectors.
• Provides analysis of the potential cost of bargaining proposals and settlements reached in the collective bargaining process
• Conducts customized research projects.
