Metro Vancouver Regional Parks - "Yours to Explore"

Available now for iPhone and iPad

iParks-Navigator for both iPhone and iPad enables visitors to explore the region's finest regional parks and greenspace.

Released in August 2011, iParks Navigator includes:

  • Information on services and facilities found in Metro Vancouver's regional parks, regional greenways and the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve (LSCR);
  • Dynamic mapping and location services using Metro Vancouver's GIS database to show your location relative to park trails and facilities**
  • Directions for driving, walking and local transit access, even for parks with multiple entrances;
  • Search to find a park offering specific facilities and activities;
  • A "what's new" bulletin highlighting features or interesting occurrences;
  • HD video showcasing park features;
  • Enhanced photo galleries;
  • A "favourites" list -- giving you quick access to information on frequently visited regional parks!

** Lynn Headwaters Regional Park and the LSCR have limited 3G network capability. Backcountry users are advised to not rely solely on this app but use a compass, altimeter and accurate topographic map

Features

Maps Search Events Favourites Info Park Map
Map shows location of parks and regional greenways featured in the app. Park reserves or ecological conservancy areas, where there is restricted public access, are not featured in the app.
Search for specific parks by applying up to two filters (activity and/or facility). Filters removed simply by touching the
Calendar with upcoming park interpretive programs and special events listed by park.
Tag a park to list as one of your favourites. Useful for quick access to parks you visit on a regular basis. To remove the park as a favourite, simply untag by touching the symbol again.
Access to Metro Vancouver website, also website for Pacific Parklands Foundation. From here, you can also send feedback on the app directly to the development team.
Slider bar allows users to change the transparency of the park data layer, enabling you to see underlying features of the base map.

Primary and secondary park entrances are shown; app provides travel directions to selected park entrance

Zooming enables legend showing trail type. Zoom out and the legend disappears.

In changing map scale, your device will take a few seconds to refresh the screen.

Icons on the map appear to overlap until you zoom to greater detail
